Our eyebrows can take hours to look perfect, and you often have to do it all again tomorrow.
But there's other options for more a more permanent fix...
They frame your face and bring attention to your eyes. Often overlooked, eyebrows are more of an important feature than we give them credit for.
If your brows are thin and sparse, and you lust for a perfectly arched full brow, consider your options wisely.
The latest beautifying technique that is all the rage lately is called Microblading.
A permanent tattoo of tiny hair strokes feathered into the brow filling any bare patches, sounds like the dream doesn't it? If you are currently filling in your brows with brow gel makeup everyday then this might be an option for you to consider. I've given the pros and cons of both techniques so you can be sure to make an informed decision.
Filling in eyebrows using makeup
Cons:
-Time consuming. Every day filling them in can be tiring.
-Temporary solution.
-Not durable in water.
Pros:
-$ Affordable. You only need the tiniest amount of product per application. Brow pencils, gels and cream products can start as low as $12. At Priceline NYX have the tame and frame pomade a pigmented gel that glides onto skin and hair.
-Foolproof. If you make a mistake no drama, just wipe off and start again.
-Easily switch up your style. What if you want higher arches on the ends or what if thinner brows make a comeback or you simply dye your hair next week to a whole new colour? Easy. Just pencil in whatever shape and colour you desire and fill accordingly.
-Gentle on sensitive skin. Just wash off when your done for the day with a makeup remover and gentle cleanser.
Eyebrow Microblading
Cons:
-$$$ Expensive. Microblading is a very sought after technique many travelling far to the right artist with lots of experience. A full set of brow tattooing can set you back on average $900 then you have to check if they charge for "touch ups" to go over hard to fill patches or areas that didn't take the colour well.
-Painful. No matter how much numbing cream they use you will still feel it. I've had friends say it's like paper cuts!
-Downtime. You won't be able to wash your face properly for a week as your freshly done brows have to scab over and heal. They can be itchy make sure you don't get them wet in the first few weeks as colour can come out leaving you with faded results.
-Undesired shape. What if your artist draws in the tattoo hair strokes too close towards your nose or misses a section in the arch? This is why researching who will be performing this treatment for you and checking out their portfolio of work is so necessary.
-Hair stroke look blending. Like any tattoo the detailed line work tends to bleed into the skin softening the longer the wear. Same goes for microbladed brows I've heard even after 3 months this can be noticeable.
Pros:
-Permanent. There will be maintenance required every year or so to get them touched up.
-Wake up with your brows done. More time in the morning for important things... like sleep!
-Swim, shower, gym etc with perfect brows! Great for that beach holiday you have booked.
