DIY Tie Dye Shoes
Keeping the kids busy during school holidays can sometimes take abit of brainstorming... Endless trips to the local park and sessions in front of the tv might end with you hearing the dreaded "I'm bored". The best way to keep the kids entertained this school holidays is to get their creative juices flowing and what better than with a cool at home DIY to show off later to all their friends..
Tie Dye Shoes.
This do it yourself psychedelic pair of shoes are so fun to make its almost stress relieving, you will want to make a pair for yourself! All you need are a pair of shoes, coloured Sharpie pens, isopropyl alcohol and a dropper.
First start off with a pair of white canvass shoes. Shoes and Sox at Westfield Penrith have instore white chuck Taylor's for kids that will be perfect.
Next get your little ones to choose their favourite colours from a selection of sharpie pens or opt for a rainbow for the traditional tie dye look.
You want to start colouring small dots onto your white shoes starting at the toe working in a circular pattern. Start off with a bright red and make the next row of dots in the circle orange then yellow ect. Have the kids work on colouring their masterpiece until the entire canvas upper is covered.
Time for some tie dye action! Using Isopropyl alcohol in a little dropper add a few drips of the liquid straight onto the shoes (protect your carpet by doing this part outside or get the old newspaper out) Watch as the colours soak into the fabric and blend out into the most amazing colourful pattern.
The more drips you add the more the colours blend.. Another tip- if you find you can still make out the drawn on dots leave the shoes to completely dry and the colours should further blend and melt into each other!
The possibilities are endless with trying different patterns and colours your kids will be in love with their very own customised pair of shoes ready to wear!
